• 1.0 out of 5 stars from Victoria H. -- Waste your money, don’t bother. Trash. : Such a big deal for nothing. This novel is about the rich, winsome, character created in tandem with Myron Bolitar. The fact that all this character does is pay homage to Bolitar is loserville. If the character can’t carry his weight, why bother? I am just a reader, not the writer. I am poor, the writer is indeed very well paid for his words. This book is a piece of trash, insulting readers. Hopefully this is the end of this character (I doubt it), but at least I won’t be suckered into more novels from Coben. I knew from the beginning who the killer was. Insult to intelligence. If you are a long time reader the Easter eggs and little nods to favorite characters and moments will have you smiling through the whole book. I have to admit, I hoped for a Myron reunion at the end, but letting Win have center stage for the entire book was a great choice. But that was not the case. If I met Win for the first time in this book, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much. But having grown to know him over the years (through all the other Myron and Win books) and having grown to love him, I absolutely adored it. What a twisty mystery and amazing, crazy main character! Finding out what happened to each of the Jane Street Six is a great journey, and Win is an overpowering, surprising voice leading us along a convoluted path. He is surrounded by people with complex stories and motives of their own, but there is no doubt that Win is the star of this show, an anti-hero whose practical lack of morality is nevertheless balanced by his odd decisions about when to play Batman and save someone according to his own code of honor. Having Win simply be filthy rich and even threaten people with the power of his money is a bold move on Coben's part, and it works. It seems clear that Win has appeared in other books by the author; given the chance to play the lead in this one, he absolutely shines. Take a quirky, arrogant, wry bow, Win! All the characters , so well written with just the right amount of humour. Win was always an interesting character so I was happy to see a book devoted to him and it doesn't disappoint. • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Pat -- Waffle! : I have read most if not all of Harlan's books. He is one of my favourite authors. I knew of Win's reputation and didn't feel that I had need to read any more than the basics. Unfortunately I had to skip half pages quite often and full pages occasionally because of the waffling of 'background'. As for 'Articulate' it worked for the earlier books when he was a working man but was totally out of place here.
